2019 Conference
SASA CONFERENCE ON THE THEME “ARCHIVES & RECORDS: YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW – CELEBRATING A DIAMOND JUBILEE”. VENUE: BIRCHWOOD CONFERENCE CENTRE, KEMPTON PARK, JOHANNESBURG DATE: 2-4 JULY 2019
The South African Society of Archivists (SASA) will host its annual conference on the theme, “Archives & Records: yesterday, today and tomorrow – celebrating a diamond jubilee” on 2-4 July 2019 in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.
SASA was established in 1959 and will be turning 60 in 2019. Over the years of existence, SASA experienced trends, opportunities and challenges in their jurisdictions with regard to its existence, as well as the management, preservation and use of records. This calls for the celebration, since SASA is one of the longest serving archival associations in Africa, which has stood the test of time.
National, regional and international speakers will address the theme of the conference and answer questions such as: What have we learned from the past? Are we coping and relevant in the present? Are we prepared and ready for the future? Does the proliferation of technology herald new opportunities to archives and records management? What challenges and risks are we facing? Have we stood and can we stand the test of time? This is a unique opportunity to exchange experiences in an African context.
